What is SCFIG?
The South Carolina Field Intelligence Group (SCFIG) is a component of the FBI Columbia Field Division. Each FBI Field Office includes a Field Intelligence Group (FIG). The SCFIG consists of:
- FBI Special Agents
- FBI Intelligence Analysts
- FBI Language Analysts and Specialists
- FBI Staff Operations Specialists from the FBI
- Task Force Intelligence Analysts (TFIA).
The FIG collects, analyzes, produces, and disseminates intelligence meeting local and national requirements in its capacity as the centralized FBI field component for the management, execution, and coordination of tactical and strategic intelligence. This responsibility is accomplished in partnership with the South Carolina Information Exchange (SCIEx).
Why SCFIG is needed?
Intelligence provided or supported by the FBI offers law enforcement officers and others a picture of trends and patterns in suspicious activities and potential terrorist operations within their respective jurisdictions. The FIG can also serve as a training resource to the law enforcement, intelligence and first responder communities, as well as a means to leverage JTTF communications with other agencies serving South Carolina.
Who should participate?
Any law enforcement agency within the state South Carolina that might benefit by receiving or sharing information regarding comprehensive, counter-terrorism and criminal intelligence products, training and investigative resources. Military law enforcement and intelligence components, as well as civilian members of the US Intelligence Community should also participate.
Why become a partner?
Intelligence led policing is a vital key to preventing and countering threats to public safety and national security. Becoming a partner makes you a registered user of SCFIG and has several benefits:
- It facilitates training registrations, on-line surveys, and event registrations;
- It facilitates productive liaison within the law enforcement community;
- It ensures potential threat-related information is shared with federal, state and local law enforcement partners, as well the US Intelligence Community.
